Sometimes the circumstances of life overwhelm people and leave them in a desperate situation, even without a home. It is at times like these that the church needs to be especially active in ministry, often times even providing for physical needs. It has become part of our culture for the government to take on responsibilities that were formerly met by individuals and churches. But that is a shame and doesn’t absolve us from our responsibility to remember the poor, which is the very thing we are eager to do (Galatians 2:10). Four or more times per year, we transform our church into a homeless shelter for the span of one week, and we spend time with homeless families, attempting to share the love of Jesus with them.
