Online Giving FAQ

Listed here are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Online Giving through MLEFC’s website. Please contact us with any further questions, and we will be happy to help you.

Yes. If your bank has an online billpay service, you can set up your bank account to automatically send a check to Mt. Laurel Evangelical Free Church at 515 Mt. Laurel Rd., Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 with “Online Giving” in the memo box. By using your own bank’s online billpay, you can easily manage the recurring donation through your bank’s website, and the church is not charged any fees from PayPal or Stripe (the processor for our “Credit Card”online-giving option) for the donation. Most banks offer online billpay as a free service to their customers. Otherwise, you can use PayPal or Stripe.
PayPal is a secure way to make a payment with your credit card or bank account information because this information is only processed on PayPal’s secure system. The church never sees or has access to your credit card or bank account information. For a more comprehensive information see PayPal’s security overview.

Stripe (the processor for our “Credit Card”online-giving option) is also a secure way to make a payment with your credit card information because this information is only processed on Stripe’s secure system. The church never sees or has access to your credit card information. For a more comprehensive information see Stripe’s security overview.

We take your privacy very seriously. When you make an online donation through Paypal or Stripe (the processor for our “Credit Card”online-giving option) via our site, the church treasurer receives an email with your name, the amount of your donation and your email address. You should receive a receipt for your donation via email, and you should also receive a giving receipt from us at the end of the year for your tax records. Mt. Laurel Evangelical Free Church never shares your information with anyone else. For more information see our Privacy Policy.

You will receive a annual giving statement from the church which lists all donations you have given (online and in person). If you have a PayPal account then you can also see a record of donations or payments by looking at your account history. All donations and payments using your credit card, either via Paypal of via Stripe, will show up on your credit card statement marked from MLEFC.
There is no need for a PayPal account if you wish to make a one-time donation or single payment using your credit card using Paypal. Unless you use your bank’s online bill pay or pay via Stripe (credit card on our site) you will need a PayPal account to make a recurring donation or to make a donation or payment directly from your bank account. If you do not already have a PayPal account and use the recurring donation option, then you will be prompted to set up a PayPal account during the process.
No. You select the dollar amount for your gift or payment. That is the dollar amount that will be charged and your entire donation is tax deductible. The church pays a small fee to PayPal or Stripe for the convenience and security of the service. For payment through American Express with Stripe, the processing fee is a flat 3.5% of the donation. For every other (non-American Express) donation via Paypal or Stripe, the respective company will take 2.2% plus $0.30 of that donation as a processing fee.
If you give manually via cash or check, or if you setup automatic billpay though your bank, yes; but, if you use the online service provided by PayPal or the credit card service on our site provided by Stripe, no. For payment through American Express with Stripe, the processing fee is a flat 3.5% of the donation. For every other (non-American Express) donation via Paypal or Stripe, the respective company will take 2.2% plus $0.30 of that donation as a processing fee.

For example, for a $100 donation via Paypal, PayPal will take $2.20 plus $0.30 to pay for their processing. MLEFC will receive $97.50 of the original $100.
